Course Overview

See what our training course will cover

This course is for students who only need their airbrake endorsement. There are two parts to an airbrake endorsement, a knowledge test and a practical test. The written knowledge exam is required to be taken through an SGI testing office prior to the course. The course consists of in-class knowledge and a demonstration of how the air system works on the air board. As well as practical hands on experience in the truck which prepares you for the practical test. The practical exam is booked within one to two days after the course has been completed.

One exam is included in the tuition fee. If students need a second test, additional charges for the cost of the exam and use of the equipment will be applicable. Testing takes place on the last day of the course.

This course is only available in Regina. Airbrake courses are not regularly scheduled. Please contact the office for more information.

Course Requirements

Before we roll, you must provide the following documentation

Frequently Asked Questions

Also called an air paper, it’s the paper proving you wrote and passed the knowledge test with the SGI driver examination office.

Only the driving examination office can hand this out. An Issuer office will not be able to provide these.

Unlike the Class 1 or 3 learner’s license which can be endorsed on your license, you only receive an air endorsement once you’ve completed both the knowledge and practical test. In the meantime you’re given the air paper as proof for training purposes since training schools do not have access to your testing records.

The school isn’t able to book the practical exam until this is complete. It makes it easier to set it up and arrange testing for the student when the knowledge test is complete.

The airbrake course is a one day course with a test following one to two days after completion.

Classes run 8am to 5pm. Air brakes may take place during the week or the first Saturday of the month.

As with any schooling, there is always the chance you may not pass the course or the road exam with SGI. The effort and time you put into it will make a difference whether you fail or succeed.

Unfortunately no, one piece of teaching equipment is not easily transported and is an important learning tool for the course. We can arrange and accommodate large groups at the school for training.
